About

Tamar Bridge

The railway lines of Devon and Cornwall go to and through some spectacularly beautiful places. Golden beaches, pretty fishing harbours, wooded valleys, rugged moorland, winding rivers & estuaries; a day on the train can take them all in. There are always fascinating stories behind each line too: of Victorian engineering ingenuity and fierce competition between rival companies, of the South West's industrial boom, of tragic wartime accidents, and of the effects of Dr Beeching's axe on the region's railway landscape.

At Rail Days, we take our visitors on tailor-made tours of Devon and Cornwall's railways. Our guides will meet you at the station of your choice and take you on a day-long journey across some of the most spectacular countryside in the UK. Along the way, we'll point out places of interest and make sure you get the see the best scenery and give you ideas for days out- we've even arranged exclusive discounts for Rail Days guests with attractions at many of the places the lines run through. During your tour, we'll give you a view of what the region's railways looked like in their heyday. For those really interested in their railway history, we carry maps and photos that show Devon and Cornwall's railways in their full former glory!
